Blog FAIL already!
Between the weather, James' trip to New York and my problems getting medicated properly, time just totally got away from me! I've seen on a few different sites about RAOK that things like holding a door for someone whose hands are full could qualify as a RAOK but really?! Where I come from we call things like that CC... Common Courtesy. Anyhow, please forgive us for missing this week? We'll make it up later in the year after things around here have calmed down, I promise! And in the meantime, we'll get back on track for this week!

Here we go....
Kyle and I have a lot of projects on the table for 2014 so let's see how we do! We came up with our blog name by combining Random Acts of Kindness (RAOK) and Rock because anyone who knows Kyle knows how much he loves giving and music!
Project 1 is the 30 day song challenge that I'm doing on Facebook. Someone made up a list of song types and each day you copy/paste a link to your song that matches the description. I've done this one before and I absolutely love it. I also love learning what songs my friends feel fit the descriptions so please join me and tag me in your posts! The list of song types is in my notes section of FB. :)
Project 2 is our 48 week dollar challenge that we made up! We're going to save $1 a week until Thanksgiving and then use the money in our jar to buy Christmas presents for kids off of a giving tree. I put my $1 in yesterday and Kyle had $2 left in his wallet so he matched my dollar! We also decided to throw change in there sometimes so our total currently sits at $2.45. We've already more than doubled our contributions and it's only been 2 days!
Project 3 is our diary/memory jars. I bought a couple really nice jars and we're going to modge-podge some decorations onto them to individualize them. I also found this idea on Facebook and decided to give it a twist of my own. Kyle and I each have a jar to put our happy memories of 2014 in but we're also going to put notes in each other's jar when we appreciate something they've done. I'm putting one in Kyle's for yesterday that says: "1-1 You saw me crying and gave me a kiss and told me it would be okay. You were right because your kiss DID make everything okay so thank you!" He will probably put a note in his own jar tomorrow that says "1-2 I got my sweetheart back from being repaired!!!!". His sweetheart is a Toshiba laptop, lol.
Last but not least, Project 4 is our 52 Week Random Act of Kindness challenge. We had a little bit of cash left from Christmas so we made a kit of some of the ideas we had. Our kit is a rubbermaid-style tub with a lid that we can keep in the car. It has an umbrella, some inexpensive gloves, a few inexpensive ice scrapers, a couple packs of microwave popcorn, some post it notes, a roll of packing tape, some jumbo print crossword puzzle books, some envelopes, some ziploc bags and a pen to write our notes with. With the weather today we decided to do a project from home for this week. Kyle wrote this letter: Dear Troy, You must get really frozen delivering mail and also thanks for giving our mail every day. (Turn to back) So now we're giving this card to you. Now go and get yourself a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa. You've earned it :) Sincerely, C + K. I stuck it in a thank you card with $2 since I know he's a regular Lassus customer and that will cover a large hot drink.
I was already really excited to do these projects but Kyle's enthusiasm makes it 1000% better. I'm so proud to have such a generous child with a kind heart.
